Flexibility is essential for the longevity of any BODY! Therapists often forget to take proper care of our most valuable work tool – our own bodies.
Many of us recognize overuse of muscles as the most common cause of muscle tightness, which can lead to restricted movement or postures. These constrictions can result in muscle weaknesses and reduced flexibility that can ultimately lead to injury.
The Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) workshops are designed to illustrate how an individual can stretch properly without endangering the joints, muscles or connective tissue. In addition, the workshops explain how anybody can safely assist their clients in the same stretching process.
From these workshops, the therapist will become more effective in postural restoration, performance enhancement, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
The Active Isolated Stretching programs involve two workshops; each is a two-day clinic. The first 2-day clinic will cover Upper Body including head, neck and shoulder girdle through the trunk to the hips.
The second 2-day workshop deals with Lower Body. We will re-visit the muscles of the lumbar region as they join the pelvic girdle and continue down through the lower limbs from the hips to the toes.
Both workshops involve Self-work and Assisted work – Assisted work will be performed between workshop participants sitting and standing as well as working on massage table.
